Mia, cont.
Mia had a great first week at home. She's very alert during the afternoon and has started kicking her feet and hands and cooing when she hears music. At night, she demands two feeding sessions, but thankfully lets us sleep the rest of the time. Here are some of our recent pictures. You can view or print these and other pictures from this set by clicking here:

Mia Elise Monroe
Mia is here! After 40 hours of labor (mom is still recovering), Mia FINALLY decided to join us! She was born at UNC Hospitals on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 9:10 PM. She weighs 8lb, 15oz and is 21 inches long. We, of course, think she is amazing and beautiful and are already totally in love with her. Here are some of her first pictures (more to come in a few days):

Danny gets hooded
Even though Danny officially became a PhD in September, he had to wait until last weekend (May 9) to be hooded. During a hooding ceremony, the research advisor places a hood around the recent PhD's neck. In Danny's case, his advisor, Steve Matson, placed the hood. Wearing a royal blue hood with graduation regalia indicates that the person is a PhD. Danny will get a lot of use out of his regalia because, as a professor, he'll have to wear it to graduation every year.
